Aquarium Bay, Bodrum: The Hidden Cove Between Bitez and Gumbet

Bodrum's Aquarium Bay (Adabogazi) lies 7-8 km from the town centre, tucked between Bitez and Gumbet. By car it takes 10-15 minutes, but the final stretch of road is narrow and parking fills up fast in season. Arriving by sea removes the hassle entirely - and lets you watch the famous fish shoals right under your swim platform. Is There an Entrance Fee? (Current Situation)

Turkey's coastline is public, and none of the Aquarium Bays charge an official fee to enter the cove itself. The bay associated with the fee controversy is the one on Bozcaada: in summer 2023 a landowner started charging visitors 150 TL to reach the beach, causing a public backlash; the municipality shut down and sealed the unlicensed operation within days (similar attempts had been made in 2015 and 2018). The Bodrum and Gocek Aquarium Bays have no entrance fee; nearby businesses may charge for sunbeds and umbrellas.
